MSN Projects Are Calling!

“Projects Are Calling” airing on MSN’s Improve & Repair Hub, follows Alan as he helps a lucky dad surprise his wife and kids with an Entertainment Center, a two-story outdoor Castle, Kitchen Makeover, Bunk Beds, a Shed or a Bathroom Makeover. Each episode follows Alan as he assists in projects that sound like a big headache but with some helpful hints, easy to follow steps, a Tough Truck and Alan’s contagious smile, can be done easily and in one weekend!

New Home Construction: Casa Basta

Alan is currently in the process of building a modern residential 6000 sq. ft. home for a family of five. Constructed from a combination of wood and industrial steel, it will include five bedrooms and 4 baths including a master spa bathroom complete with an infinity tub and sauna & steam shower. Like every house, the finishing touches are what really make it home and with a modern stainless steel kitchen, a dream pantry and polished concrete floor, Casa de Basta will be no exception.

Second Story Deck

Have a small backyard but desperately want a deck/entertaining space? Alan created a lofted deck giving double the space. There is now a covered dining area below and a fun sunny entertaining area above complete with a sheet of whiteboard, ideal for a projector screen on movie night!

Backyard Fence

Weather can really wear on fences. Alan tore down and replaced 180 feet of panel to panel fence and topped it with lattice. The lattice adds extra height for complete privacy and a design element that still allows light and surrounding greenery to come through.

Urban Chicken Coop

Nothing beats farm fresh eggs! Instead of going to the farm, Alan brought the farm to the family... sort of. This small chicken coop fits nice and snug in the corner of the backyard. He re-purposed the kids old bunk bed on the inside so the chickens have a ladder and a place to roost. The whimsical fence gives the chickens room to run around and keeps them contained.
